THE HISTORY OF ST AUGUSTINE, FLORIDA
It all started when King Phillip II of Spain instructed Don Pedro Menendez de Aviles, Spain’s most experienced admiral to explore and to colonize the territory. When Don Pedro arrived off the coast of Florida, it happened to be August 28, 1565 which was known during those days as the Feast Day of St. Augustine. Hence this beautiful town received her name!
St Augustine is was first official city in America and thus the oldest city in the United States! (you can say wow now!)
THE HISTORY OF LINCOLNVILLE, ST AUGUSTINE, FL
The Lincolnville Historic District is an area of the city of St. Augustine, Florida established by African American women and men following the American Civil War and located on the southwest peninsula of the “nation’s oldest city.” Lincolnville St Augustine has since been listed on the National Register of Historic Places. And the even better news is : Liberty Manor House is in the very heart of Lincolnville directly across the street from the Dr Martin Luther King Jr Museum.
